Man Designing a Website

The beautiful thing about your website is that it can look however you want it to look - the possibilities are endless! (And with a custom site, the functionality possibilities are endless too!). There are four specific design principles you should ensure make it onto your website that really makes your website look flawless.

When we design websites (and anything we design), we keep CRAP design principles in mind. No, this does not mean our designs are not crap, quite the opposite actually. All our designs are built with Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity in mind to ensure your websites (or other design pieces) look their best.

Now what does that mean for you? When we design and build your websites (or any materials we produce for you), we ensure:

  • Contrast - all the design elements will contrast against their surroundings to ensure the designs pop and, particularly for the text portions, ensure readability. All pieces of the design should stand apart from each other. This can be done through colors, element sizes or other imagery.
  • Repetition - All the visual elements throughout your site will be repetitive. That may seem like it could make things monotonous, boring. However, it has the reverse effect. Having the same fonts, colors, tones, etc. throughout your site creates cohesiveness and unity in your branding and messaging.
  • Alignment - All the elements we place on your website, from images to text to maps, are placed where they are deliberately. Nothing we do will ever be placed arbitrarily anywhere on your site. If we put something anywhere, it will be because it is in alignment with other objects or sections on the page. Elements are visually connected to each other, and nothing should ever feel out of place. No randomness here!
  • Proximity - Things will be placed where they make sense. Placing items or elements where they should go in relation to other reduces visual clutter and increases viewer comprehension.
